AVANTASIA: New Footage From The Road Posted Online
August 3, 2008Vocalist Amanda Somerville has issued two new video blogs (see below) from the AVANTASIA world tour, which kicked off on June 5 at the Rocksound Festival in Huttwil, Switzerland.
AVANTASIA filmed its July 10 performance at the Masters of Rock festival in Vizovice, Czech Republic for a forthcoming DVD.
The new album from AVANTASIA, "The Scarecrow", was "officially one of the 20 best-selling albums in whole Europe during the fourth week of January," according to a press release.
"The Scarecrow" was released on January 25 as a standard CD as well as rare picture (double) vinyl.
Amanda Somerville is the American singer-songwriter and vocal coach who was recently tapped to replace EPICA vocalist Simone Simons on the band's North American tour with SYMPHONY X due to Simons' ongoing health issues.
A Michigan native, Amanda has resided and worked mainly in Germany and the Netherlands since 1999. She has collaborated with several bands in the metal scene (EDGUY, AFTER FOREVER, EPICA, KAMELOT, etc.) along with producers Sascha Paeth and Miro, and co-wrote the rock opera "Aina". Her own music is of the pop-rock genre and she is currently focusing on her solo career.
